Why Funnels Matter (Even If You Hate the Word)

I used to roll my eyes at the word "funnel." It felt so... internet marketing guru. But once I actually understood what a funnel is — and built one that worked — it changed everything for Pirk.

What a Funnel Actually Is

A funnel is just a way of describing the journey someone takes from discovering you to becoming a customer. That's it. No magic, no gimmicks.

  • Awareness: They find you (social media, Google, word of mouth)
  • Interest: They engage with your content (read a blog post, download a guide)
  • Consideration: They start thinking about buying (visit your services page, read testimonials)
  • Conversion: They take action (book a call, make a purchase)
  • Why Most Service Businesses Struggle

Most service businesses I see have no middle of funnel. They're great at awareness (posting on social media) and they have a way to convert (a contact form or booking link). But there's nothing in between.

No email capture. No nurture sequence. No content that builds trust over time. They're asking people to go from "just heard of you" to "take my money" in one step.

The Fix Is Simpler Than You Think

You don't need complex automation or expensive tools. Start with:

    1. A valuable free guide that captures emails 2. A simple 3-email welcome sequence 3. Regular content that keeps you top of mind

That's a funnel. It doesn't have to be complicated to be effective.
